
Thrive City Announces 2023 Holiday Programming
Thrive City has announced its 2023 holiday programming, which features free events for the whole family, highlighted by Thrive City’s first ice skating rink. Additional events include the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, Kwanzaa celebrations and more.
Thrive City hosts events related to health and wellness, arts and culture, sports and entertainment, and civic engagement. The community gathering space saw a record number of 15,000 attendees from June to September with their 2023 summer programming schedule that featured events alongside Kaiser Permanente such as fitness classes, farmers markets, live performances, and themed celebrations.

Thrive City’s Winter Wonderland events include:
- Tree Lighting Ceremony, November 29 — Tip off the festive season with Thrive City’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring the Bay Area’s tallest tree, standing at 90 feet, on Wednesday, November 29 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. This two-hour showcase features holiday food and beverages and live music from the original member and founder of RUN DMC, Darryl McDaniels. The night will include performances by the Warriors Dance Teams, holiday choirs, DJ D Sharp and more.
- Hanukkah Celebration, December 7 — Thrive City will celebrate the Festival of Lights with a special Hanukkah celebration and menorah lighting ceremony on Thursday, December 7, from 4 - 7 p.m. The night will feature live entertainment from community groups, Jewish treats and drinks, festive arts and crafts, and a candlelight concert.
- Ice Skating and Holiday Activities, Beginning December 9 — For the first time, Thrive City will host an outdoor ice skating rink for the month of December, opening on Saturday, December 9 at 11 a.m. Guests will experience the magic of the season by ice skating in the plaza, as well as other holiday activities for each session, including a DJ Skate Party, photos with Santa Claus, seasonal treats, festive art and crafts and more. Additional ice skating dates include December 10, December 18, and December 20, with more dates available based on Chase Center event and game schedules.
- Kwanzaa and Noon Year’s Eve Celebration, December 31 — Fans are invited to celebrate Kwanzaa and ring in the New Year at Thrive City with a special Noon Year’s Eve daytime concert. The performance will feature Soji Sai Afrobeat from the Rock & Roll Playhouse, cultural performances, a countdown drop, arts and crafts, and more on Saturday, December 31 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
