Marcus Books Pop-up Bookstore at Thrive City

Monday February 22, 2021

In celebration of Black History Month, the Warriors hosted a pop-up bookshop provided by the nation’s oldest Black-owned independent bookstore, Marcus Books, at Thrive City on Sunday. All books at the popup specialized in titles by and about Black history as this event served to spotlight Black authors and provide books about communities of color. A plethora of books were placed on shelves for students ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

The Warriors, in partnership with Chase, support underserved students in the San Francisco Bay Area by providing students with books, encouraging them to read and show how representation matters in society. By following all public health protocols, students from Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco, Malcom X Academy Elementary School and Willie Brown Middle School were given an exclusive opportunity to pick up books of their choice and receive giveaways.
