As part of an ongoing partnership with Food Runners, Chase Center has been donating unused food and raw ingredients from Golden State Warriors games and events. When the San Francisco stay in place mandate went into effect, two games and one concert were postponed, so a large donation of food was made that week. For this specific donation, Chase Center gave about 200 pounds of dairy product including assorted cheeses and cooked pasta.
Other examples of the raw products that Chase Center donates includes expiring dairy, vegetables, citrus/juices, substituted products that were out of stock to cover an event, samples from vendors, items from menu changes, and products brought in from special events.
It is estimated that Chase Center has donated about 5,120 pounds of food product since opening back in September of 2019.
Here is a list of some of the recipients that Food Runners has delivered Chase Center’s donated product to:
• The Sanctuary
• Leland Polk Residence
• Martin De Porres
• Sutter Apt.
• Glyde Memorial
• Marin Food Bank
• Haight Soup Kitchen
Food Runners was established in 1987. It is a free service to the community, non-profits, and donors. Food Runners pick up donations of prepared and perishable food and relay it to recipient non-profits serving the hungry in San Francisco. For more info, go to foodrunners.org.
