The Lead-Up to Chase Center: Janet Jackson

Thursday September 19, 2019

Janet Jackson prepares for her debut performance at Chase Center with a special 30th anniversary celebration to commemorate her landmark album, Rhythm Nation 1814. It’s been quite a year for Janet Jackson, who was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while in the midst of her Las Vegas residency, Metamorphosis. Commanding the stage for decades, Jackson still doesn’t miss a beat as she continuously takes her creative talents to new heights, including flashes of Rhythm Nation in her residency performance. As Janet Jackson prepares for one of her first shows following Metamorphosis, check out some reviews about what the five-time Grammy winner has been up to.

Vibe:
“2019 morphed into 1989 as Jackson and her dancers donned all-black, militaristic outfits, stomping to empowerment anthems like “Black Cat” and the LP’s title track. Anyone who previously didn’t pledge allegiance to the Rhythm Nation joined the party in Vegas as a quick scan around the theater saw most fist-pumping or mimicking the moves out of their seats.”

The Hollywood Reporter:
“It’s the memories that the dance numbers spark in the minds of audience that get the most play. And when it was that good to begin with, does it really need to be recast? In Jackson’s world, it doesn’t. Plus, 30 years later, Rhythm Nation still rocks.”

Variety:
“For strong women and for African American women in particular, she was a one-woman smorgasbord of identities from which to draw upon, and it’s energizing to feel that history in the buzz of the crowd as you walk in — it’s something that has the slightest bit more giddy gravitas circulating amid the slot machines outside the Park entrance.”

Las Vegas Review Journal:
“Jackson’s show extends beyond a typical concert, especially with its tightly produced dance numbers. Jackson pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of “Rhythm Nation 1814,” with her dance team donning jumpsuits and coveralls.”

Ebony:
“From the moment she hit the stage, Jackson proved she didn’t come to play, she came to slay!”

Janet Jackson will continue to entertain audiences as she makes her way to Chase Center this Saturday, September 21st. Can’t wait to see Janet take the stage? Grab your tickets before its too late!
