Chase Center and Thrive City Earn Fast Company World Changing Ideas Honorable Mention

Apr 28, 2020/CHASE CENTER

We are so excited to be named an Honorable Mention for Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards in the Spaces, Places and Cities category. The category recognizes buildings, landscapes, urban designs, and policies that make cities and living in them cleaner, more efficient, more beautiful, and more equitable for their citizens.

The description couldn’t be a better fit for what the vision of Chase Center and Thrive City is. Not only are we home to the six-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors and some of the top musical acts in the industry, Chase Center and Thrive City represent a community gathering place and entertainment destination for the city of San Francisco. What was once a worn-down outdoor parking lot now represents the culmination of a 20-year plan to revitalize San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood. Chase Center isn’t just the only privately-financed arena built on private land in the modern era of sports. It gave San Francisco a state-of-the-art venue to welcome world-class events. Before that, of the top 25 cities in the U.S., San Francisco was the only one without such a venue.

Over the course of our first year, Thrive City has been able to host a number of community events including numerous farmer’s markets, a U.S. Open block party, wellness programing and the lighting of San Francisco’s tallest Christmas Tree. We also have a lot of great restaurants that we’re excited to see open up in Thrive City. Fans are going to have a variety of options for their pre or post event dining destination including Belly & Sweet Belly, Dumpling Time, Gott’s Roadside, Harmonic Brewery, a Michael Mina sports bar, Miller & Lux by Tyler Florence, Mission Bay Wine Bar, Nachoria and Philz Coffee. While we are taking a break due to the pandemic that is putting a lot of things on hold, we are still busy planning a ton of activities the community will be able to take part in when it is safe to re-open.

Until then all of us at the Warriors are hoping you are staying safe and healthy and we can’t wait to see you back!
